Why language matters more in tax than in most professional services
Working in a second language costs everyone a little accuracy and a lot of willingness to interrupt. In most dealings that is fine. You get the gist, you nod, you move on, and nothing turns on the part you missed.
Tax is unusual because the part you missed becomes a filing. An adviser describes a structure, a client follows most of it, the thread goes at the technical noun in the middle, and stopping to ask feels worse than carrying on. What gets decided next is decided on an assumption nobody checked. A year later that assumption is sitting on a return with a signature under it, and the signature belongs to the client.
None of that is anybody being careless. That is what happens when a conversation only half takes place. The fix is not a translated document at the end. The fix is having the conversation properly in the first place, which is what a bilingual practice is actually for.
The standard here is that a client leaves understanding their own position rather than trusting ours. That is harder to reach across a language gap, and that gap is why this service exists rather than sitting beside the work as an extra.

An IRS notice is written in a register that defeats plenty of native speakers, and the part that matters is usually one sentence buried in the middle of it. We read it with you in Vietnamese, say what the notice is asking and what the date on it means, then deal with the agency directly.

Filings, books, payroll and IRS correspondence all get handled, and the plan gets revisited as the numbers move. Most of what makes a difference has to happen during the year, not at the end of it.
Where the clients are
The office is in Sugar Land, off Highway 6 and a short way from US 59, which puts it inside easy reach of Missouri City and the rest of Fort Bend County, and about half an hour from the Bellaire Boulevard corridor running west out of Houston.
Distance matters less than it used to. Documents move securely without anyone driving, and the review conversations happen by video as readily as across a desk. Clients come in when they want to, and for resolution work most people do want to at least once.

Questions we get asked
Can the whole thing be handled in Vietnamese?
Yes. The first consultation, the questions in the middle, and the conversation where we go through the finished return can all happen in Vietnamese. Documents that go to the IRS are filed in English, because that is what the agency accepts, and we explain what each one says before anyone signs it.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes, and free in either language. Bring whatever you have, including the letters you have not opened. Nobody is going to be told off for the state of their paperwork.
My parents got an IRS letter and their English is limited. Can you help them?
That is one of the most common calls we get and yes. Bring the letter in, or send a photograph of it. We will read what it actually says, in Vietnamese, and tell them plainly what is being asked and by when before anyone decides anything.
Do I have to come to the office?
Usually not. Most of the work runs remotely. The office is at 12440 Emily Ct, Suite 303, Sugar Land, TX 77478 for anyone who would rather sit down with someone, and there is a midday closure, so calling ahead to fix a time saves a wasted trip.
We run a family business. Is that a problem?
No. That is most of what a practice like this does. Family businesses tend to have money and work moving between the household and the business in ways nobody wrote down as anything in particular. Sorting that out is ordinary work and it goes faster when it can be discussed properly.
